POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist volleyball team had its four-match winning streak snapped against Manhattan when the Red Foxes lost 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 26-24) on Nov. 3 in McCann Arena. Marist is now 11-15 overall and 10-5 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play while the Jaspers moved to 10-19 overall and 6-9 in conference competition.

Freshman Nikki DeSerpa led the attack with nine kills and senior Lexi Millington dove for as many digs. Junior Ashton Korona had a balanced performance, slamming four kills and jumping for a team-high three blocks.

Marist pulled within one at 6-5 in the opening set, but were unable to counter the 6-2 run from the Jaspers that followed. The second stanza was tied at two before Manhattan forced some errors on the Red Foxes' side and built a six-point lead. A kill and service ace from sophomore Mackenzie O'Brien trimmed the deficit to 12-9 and forced a Jaspers timeout. The Red Foxes did not get any closer than that however.

In a third set that was tied 18 times, neither side led by more than two points. Marist held a 20-18 edge in the frame, but the Jaspers got three straight points for the extra push they needed for a straight set victory.

The Red Foxes owned a 4-3 edge in blocks and a 3-2 advantage in service aces, but Manhattan hit .394 in the contest. Senior Milena Janjusevic led the Jaspers' stout attack with 17 kills and sprawled for seven digs. At setter sophomore Zoe Lindsey dished out 36 assists.

Marist will host Iona on Senior Day at 1 p.m. Nov. 6. Prior to the match, the Red Foxes will honor seniors Amanda Bradley, Millington, Amanda Schlegel and team manager Rachel Danko for their commitment and dedication to the program.
