POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's basketball team suffered an 81-73 home loss to Manhattan in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game on Saturday at McCann Arena.

Freshman guard Brian Parker led the Red Foxes with 19 points. He also contributed eight rebounds and team highs of four assists and two steals. Red-shirt junior guard Khallid Hart finished with 16 points on 6-for-10 shooting from the field. Freshman forward Isaiah Lamb had 8-013 points and seven rebounds. Freshman forward Kristinn Palsson scored 10. Senior center Eric Truog led the Red Foxes with nine rebounds.

For Manhattan, Calvin Crawford led four double-digit scorers with 20. Zane Waterman had a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

The first half included five lead changes and four ties. With 12:19 left in the first half, the Jaspers built a 20-9 lead, but the Red Foxes climbed back into the game on the strength of a 10-0 run. With under two minutes left in the first half, a three-pointer and jumper by Palsson on consecutive possessions gave Marist a 35-32 lead. Consecutive buckets by Crawford put Manhattan back in front, but Marist re-claimed the lead on a three-pointer by freshman forward Ryan Funk with under 10 seconds left in the half. However, a three-pointer by Manhattan's RaShawn Stores at the buzzer gave the Jaspers a 39-38 lead after the first 20 minutes.

Stores' three-pointer ended up giving the Jaspers the lead for good. Manhattan built a 12-point lead on two occasions in the final 20 minutes. Manhattan held a 71-61 with two minutes to play, but the Red Foxes fought back as Parker scored the Red Foxes' last 12 points in the final 1:26. Marist cut the deficit to as little as five with 40 seconds to play, but Manhattan put the game away by going 10-for-12 from the free-throw line in the final 1:25.

The Red Foxes outrebounded Manhattan 39-36, including 11-9 on the offensive glass. Marist shot .421 from the field, .350 from behind the arc and .692 from the free throw line. Manhattan shot .407 from the field, .370 from behind the arc and .885 from the charity stripe. The Jaspers' bench outscored the Red Fox bench 28-10, while Marist had 17 turnovers to Manhattan's 13. 

Marist fell to 5-19 overall and 2-13 in the MAAC. Manhattan is 11-12 overall and 8-6 in the MAAC.

Marist is back in action on Monday, when the Red Foxes begin a three-game road swing against Fairfield at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. The contest will be carried on SNY and ESPN3.

Notes: Hart now has 1,246 career points. He passed Devin Price to move into 13th place in program history in scoring. Next on the list in 12th place is Joe Scott with 1,283 points. … It was the seventh time this season Marist had four double-digit scorers. The Red Foxes accomplished this feat twice last season.
