Fairfield ended the half leading 34-25, holding Marist to just 25 percent shooting in the half and 3-for-17 from behind the arc. Jarosz finished the half with 11 points and nine rebounds, one shy of her 22nd double-double of the season.
After the Stags scored the first bucket of the half, the Red Foxes reeled off a 7-2 run to cut the deficit to 38-32 with seven minutes to go in the third. A jumper from Fairfield's Kelsey Carey was answered right back with another 4-0 Marist run to cut the once 14 point deficit down to four by the third quarter media timeout.
Allie Clement extended the Red Foxes run to a 7-0 one right out of the timeout, cutting the deficit to just one with 3:49 left in the third. A Fairfield turnover and a steal by Clement, who then went coast-to-coast and earned a foul put Marist up 41-40. The lead was the Red Foxes first since the 9:35 mark in the first quarter.
A slick crossover and floater from Clement put Marist up 45-43 with just a minute to go in the third but a buzzer beating layup from the Stag's Kristine Miller knotted the score at 45-45 heading into the fourth.
