EDISON, New Jersey – Senior infielder Maureen Duddy of the Marist softball team was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Last weekend, Marist opened its season by going 4-1 in the Eastern Michigan Tournament. Duddy's contributions were significant, as she hit .368 (7-for-19), went 4-for-4 in stolen base attempts, and added three runs and three RBIs.

Against UMass Lowell on Feb. 19, Duddy went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored. With two outs in the top of the seventh and no one on base, Duddy reached on a bunt single, stole second, stole third and then scored on a throwing error for the winning run in Marist's 2-1 triumph.

In Marist's 6-4 win over Eastern Michigan on Feb. 20, Duddy has a two-run single, a stolen base and a run scored after a throwing error in a four-run fourth inning which put the Red Foxes ahead for good. Later that day, she went 2-for-4 with an RBI against Georgia Southern.

On Feb. 21, she went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in a 3-2 win over Providence. Later that day, she walked to lead off the game and scored the first run in Marist's 4-3 triumph over North Florida.

Duddy also handled all 28 chances (22 putouts, six assists) without committing an error at first base and third base.

This is the second MAAC weekly honor Duddy has earned in her career. She was previously named MAAC Player of the Week after the opening week of the 2015 season. Duddy has been named Second Team All-MAAC each of the last two years, and is the program's all-time and single-season leader in stolen bases.

Marist will return to action the weekend of March 4-6, when the Red Foxes play five games in the George Mason Tournament. Marist will open play against Army West Point on Friday, March 4 at 6 p.m.
