HAMDEN, Connecticut – The Marist men's basketball team suffered a 79-53 loss at Quinnipiac in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game on Thursday.

Freshman guard Brian Parker scored a team-high 12 points, and added eight rebounds. Red-shirt junior guard Khallid Hart scored 10 points. Freshman forward Kristinn Palsson had nine points and four rebounds. Junior center Kentrall Brooks had six points and a career-high 11 rebounds.

“We have a long way to go,” head coach Mike Maker said. “It's not a lot of fun going through what we're going through. … Credit Quinnipiac and (head coach Tom Moore), and we're going to have to move on.”

Quinnpiac shot .500 (13-for-26) from three-point range, while Marist shot .105 (2-for-19) from deep. The Red Foxes shot just .271 (16-for-59) from the field.

Quinnipiac was led in scoring by Andrew Robinson, who tallied 15 on the strength of five first-half three-pointers. Daniel Harris, who shot 5-for-7 from the field and 3-for-4 from three-point range, added 13. Abdulai Bundu had seven points and a team-best nine rebounds.

Quinnipiac led for the final 36:42 of the game. An elbow jumper by Brooks gave Marist a 6-4 advantage with 17:42 left in the first half. Exactly one minute later, a three-pointer by Harris gave the Bobcats the lead for good. Harris' shot started Quinnipiac on a 12-1 run. Marist never got closer than five after this run, and Quinnipiac led by double digits over the last 27 minutes. The Bobcats held the Red Foxes without a field goal in the final 2:42 of the first half, and closed the half on an 11-2 run to take a 47-25 advantage to the locker room.

Marist never got closer than 20 in the second half. Quinnpiac's largest lead was 36.

Marist is 4-17 overall and 1-11 in the MAAC. Quinnipiac is 8-13 overall and 5-7 in the MAAC.

Marist will return to action on Sunday, Feb. 7, when the Red Foxes host Siena. Tip-off is set for noon. Tickets are available for sale on GoRedFoxes.com.

Notes: Brooks' previous career high in rebounds was seven. … Marist is 6-for-48 (.125) on three-pointers in its last two games. … Quinnipiac set a season high for three-pointers made. … This is the first time in Marist's last 14 games that the margin of victory was larger than 12 points. … Hart now has 1,191 career points. He passed Bobby Joe Hatton (1,190) and moved into 16th place on Marist's all-time scoring list. Next on the list is Miroslav Pecarski (1,196).
