POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's basketball team defeated Siena by a score of 79-73 on Sunday afternoon at McCann Arena in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game.

Freshman guard Brian Parker led the Red Foxes with 24 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the field, 1-for-1 from behind the arc and 7-for-11 from the line. Red-shirt junior guard Khallid Hart chipped in 17 points, which included an 8-for-8 performance from the charity stripe to go along with three assists and a career high six steals. Freshman forward Isaiah Lamb had 10 points on 2-for-5 shooting from the field and 5-for-5 from the line and tied a career high with a team-best seven rebounds. 

Nico Clareth led the Saints with 26 points on 11-for-16 shooting from the field and 4-for-8 from three point range and four assists. Javion Ogunyemi and Brett Bisping scored 16 points apiece. Bisping added a game-high nine rebounds.

The game included 12 lead changes and 15 ties. It was closely contested throughout, with neither team holding a lead of more than seven points.

Siena took its largest lead at 15-10 on a three-pointer by Clareth with 10:14 left of the first half. The Red Foxes answered with the next four points, and over the final 8:32 of the half, neither team led by more than three. Hart scored Marist's final eight points of the first half, and the Red Foxes led 31-30 after the first 20 minutes.

After Bisping opened the second-half scoring, which gave Siena back the lead, Marist answered with six consecutive points to go up five. With 17:15 to play, Bisping drained two free throws to cut Marist's lead to 37-34. Neither team led by more than three over the next ten-and-a-half minutes until Parker hit a right-wing three with 6:44 left, which gave Marist a 60-56 advantage.

Siena's Lavon Long drained two free throws to put the Saints up 68-65 with 2:44 left. On the ensuing possession, Hart drained a three to tie the score, and Siena never led again. With 1:28 to play, a right-wing three from freshman forward Kristinn Palsson gave Marist the lead for good. In the final minute, Marist closed out the game by going 6-for-8 from the free-throw line. In this span, Lamb and Hart each went 2-for-2.

Siena outrebounded Marist 35-23, including 14-7 on the offensive glass. The Red Foxes shot .491 from the field, .474 from three point range and .821 from the free throw line. The Saints shot .491 from the floor, .474 from behind the arc and .706 from the free throw line. Siena had 12 assists and 15 turnovers while Marist had 14 assists and seven turnovers on the afternoon.

With the win, Marist improves to 5-17 (2-11 MAAC) while the loss drops Siena to 16-9 (9-5 MAAC).

Notes: Parker now has eight games with at least 20 points this season. … It was Marist's third straight game with less than 10 turnovers, and the seven turnovers were tied for the Red Foxes' second-lowest in a game this season. … Hart is now 74-for-85 (.871) from the line in his last nine games. … Hart now has 1,208 career points, which currently ranks in 14th place in program history. In 13th place is Devin Price with 1,244 points.
