PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania – The Marist women's tennis team were shut out by the Temple Owls, 7-0, Saturday afternoon in the first of two matches on the weekend for the Red Foxes in the Philadelphia area.
The Red Foxes dropped all three doubles matches and the Owls were able to clinch the doubles point with a win at the first singles position when the Temple pairing of Yana Khon and Anais Nussaume defeated Karlene Pang and Chloe Lant, 6-1.
Marist didn't fare much better in singles play as all but one match was won by the Owls in straight sets. Lant, trying to avenge her doubles loss, took her match to three sets, winning the first set against Nussaume, 6-3, but falling in the other two sets 6-1 and then 7-6 (7-4) in the third set.
Marist now stands at 3-7 overall on the season and returns to action on Sunday, March 13th against Villanova as their Pennsylvania swing continues.
