VESTAL, New York – The Marist women's tennis team fell to the Binghamton Bearcats, 6-1, Friday evening in a non-conference dual-meet held at the Binghamton Tennis Center. With the loss the Red Foxes move to 3-9 on the season with one non-conference match remaining before they return to conference play.
Binghamton took the first doubles match with a win at the second position but Marist was able to level the doubles portion as Karlene Pang and Chloe Lant defeated Shea Brodsky and Alexis Tashiro, 6-3.
The Bearcats bounced back and took the doubles point with a win at the third position as Binghamton's Agatha Ambrozy and Olga Ostrovetsky defeated Ariel Shulman and Sophia Moeller, 6-4.
Marist then fell into a 3-0 match hole after loses at the first and fourth doubles position. Marist's Caroline Lozo earned the Red Foxes first singles point defeating the Bearcat's Annie DiMuro, 7-5, 6-4 from the second singles spot.
It was the only point the Red Foxes would earn on the day as Binghamton closed out the match with wins at the third, fifth, and then sixth singles spots to win the overall match.
The Red Foxes have a quick turnaround as they take on Cornell in Ithaca, New York Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Following their match against Cornell the Red Foxes head back to conference play and their 2-0 MAAC record with a matchup against Siena on Friday, April 1st.
