ITHACA, New York – The Marist women's tennis team were shut out by the Cornell Big Red, 7-0, Saturday morning in a non-conference dual meet. With the loss the Red Foxes move to 3-10 on the season.
After a quick turnaround less than 24 hours after their match against Binghamton, the Red Foxes found themselves down to Cornell after dropping the first three doubles matches.
Cornell was able to clinch the doubles point from the third position as the Big Red's Madison Stevens and Michelle Wang took down Lisa Ventimiglia and Melissa Carlay, 6-1.
Cornell kept rolling as they won in straight sets in every singles match and clinched the victory at the sixth singles position when Jane Stewart defeated Elizabeth Brozovich, 6-3, 6-0. The win was Cornell's fifth in a row as the Big Red moved to 10-5 overall.
The Red Foxes return to conference play with a 2-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference record as the team matches up with Siena on Friday, April 1st.
