HAMILTON, New York – The Marist women's tennis got back on track as they defeated the Colgate Raiders, 7-0, in non-conference action Friday afternoon. With the win the Red Foxes earned their seventh win of the season against 11 losses.
Caroline Lozo and Callie Morlock started the day defeating Colgate's Jennifer Ho and Lauren Hyland, 6-3. Ariel Shulman and Sophia Moeller then clinched the doubles point for the Red Foxes with a 6-3 win over Kelly Klein and Cheyenne Brown.
In singles play the Red Foxes continued their strong play, winning all six singles matches. Shulman and Lozo finished their matches one and two playing from the second and first singles positions, respectively. Lozo defeated Hyland, 6-4, 6-2 and Shulman took down Ho, 6-2, 6-1.
Morlock kept the momentum going for Marist as she clinched the overall match for the Red Foxes after defeating Klein, 7-6 (8-6), 6-4.
Nikki Rohan won her first match of the day, earning a three set 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, victory over Colgate's Nicole Szczech. Claire Schmitz won her match against Colgate's Katie Grant, 7-5, 6-4 and lastly, Elizabeth Brozovich defeated Kaelin Brittin, 7-5, 7-5.
The Red Foxes return to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action on Sunday, April 17th when they take on Qunnipiac in Hamden, Connecticut at 1 p.m.
