HANOVER, New Hampshire – The Marist women's soccer team were unable to come away with a point after a late goal from Alyssa Neuberger gave Dartmouth a 1-0 win Friday afternoon in non-conference action in Hanover, New Hampshire.Â
Marist goalkeeper, Makala Foley, made nine big saves in net for the Red Foxes, holding off the Dartmouth attack until just under six minutes remaining in the second overtime period.
With the loss the Red Foxes move to 1-1-0 overall. The Red Foxes are now 0-3 against the Big Green in the series' history.
The Big Green found themselves with two golden chances in the first overtime period but were unable to earn the sudden-victory but finally broke through in the 104th minute when Neuberger found the back of the net with an assist from Remy Borinsky.
Alexa Svensson led the Red Foxes in shots with three, two of which were on goal. The Red Foxes tallied five shots overall while Dartmouth put 18 shots toward net.
The best chances of regulation came in the 38th, 65th, and 71st minute for Dartmouth.
In the 38th minute a flurry in front led to two big saves from Foley who knocked away two shots in quick succession.
In the 65th minute, a Dartmouth cross crept past the Marist keeper and trickled across the line beyond the outstretched feet of two Big Green players.
Dartmouth's last best chance came in the 71st minute when a streaking forward played the ball just past Foley but wide of net.
The Red Foxes had some sustained pressure in the final 15 minutes of regulation but were unable to put the ball away to steal a victory.
The Red Foxes continue on the road as they take on Lehigh on Wednesday, August 31st in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
