POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's basketball team suffered a 73-62 loss to the Rider Broncs at McCann Arena on Friday night. With the defeat, the Red Foxes fall to 5-11 (2-3 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) while the win improves the Broncs to 10-5 (3-1 MAAC).

Isaiah Lamb led Marist with 14 points on 6-for-12 shooting. Khallid Hart chipped in 10 points and two steals and Obi Momah finished with eight points and a career-high seven rebounds. The Red Foxes shot 24-for-58 from the field, 6-for-25 from three point range and 8-for-13 from the free throw line.

Kahlil Thomas led the Rider with 19 points, 12 rebounds and three steals. Three-time MAAC Rookie of the Week Stevie Jordan chipped in 17 points on 6-for-12 shooting to go along with five rebounds and four assists and Xavier Lundy finished with 15 points and eight rebounds. The Broncs shot 26-for-55 from the field, 5-for-15 from downtown and 16-for-24 from the charity stripe. Rider also outrebounded Marist 39-33, including 10-8 on the offensive glass.

With both teams coming off wins in the previous game, each side looked to build off that momentum. Neither side was able to gain a large advantage in the opening half, with the largest lead never surpassing three points for either team. As time expired it was the visitors on top 34-32.

The beginning of the second half was much like the first with both teams trading leads but never more than one or two possessions. With just over eight minutes remaining, the Broncs gained the one-point lead off a three pointer by Jordan and never looked back, extending their lead to as many as 12 with 1:11 remaining. The Red Foxes tried to claw back but the deficit was too much and time expired with the visitors emerging victorious 73-62. There were a total of 18 lead changes and 10 ties in the contest.

Up next, Marist travels to West Long Branch, New Jersey for a matchup with the Monmouth Hawks on Sunday, Jan. 8th. Tip-off is schedule for 2 PM.
