BRONX, New York -- A youthful partial squad of the Marist men's cross country team put together a strong showing at the Metropolitan Championships, held Friday afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. Powered by four freshmen and a junior, the Red Foxes placed fourth out of 13 teams in the meet.
 
Junior Michael Kennedy returned to action after an injury layoff and led the Red Foxes, earning a top-20 medal with his 18^th-place performance of 26:52.0 on the historic 5-mile course at VCP. Four freshmen followed him across the line in rapid succession: James Draney (24^th, 27:12.2), James Moehringer (29^th, 27:28.6), Graham Strzelecki (35^th, 27:33.8), James Pratt (37^th, 27:40.2).
 
Marist scored 140 points, edging out Seton Hall (147) and trailing only Rutgers (39), Manhattan (53) and Fordham (67).
