Marist Football Defeated At Valparaiso

Crusaders Pull Away In Second Half

VALPARAISO, Indiana – The Marist football team (3-4 overall, 2-2 Pioneer Football League) suffered a 49-15 defeat at Valparaiso (3-4, 2-2) in a PFL contest on Saturday afternoon at Brown Field.
 
The game was delayed twice by thunderstorms, with the delay time totaling three hours and 36 minutes. The contest concluded over six hours after it started.
 
Key Plays
  • Marist had two first-quarter drives inside the Valparaiso five-yard line. The first one ended in an interception, and the second ended in a 23-yard field goal by red-shirt junior kicker Joe Giglio.
  • On the next play from scrimmage, Valparaiso's Jimmy Seewald connected with Parker Fox on a 70-yard touchdown pass.
  • Lightning delayed the game at 1:31 p.m. local time with 2:49 left in the first quarter, and Valparaiso holding a 7-3 lead. Play resumed after a delay of one hour, 25 minutes.
  • Jarrett Morgan's five-yard touchdown run gave Valparaiso a 14-3 lead with 7:36 left in the second quarter.

  • Red-shirt freshman quarterback Jacob Hallenback scored his first career touchdown on a one-yard run with seven seconds to play. He became the seventh Red Fox to score his first career touchdown this season.
