PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania - Marist women's tennis'
Ariel Shulman and
Julia Gabay completed their first day representing the Red Foxes at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) regional tournament Thursday afternoon. Shulman and Gabay teamed up in doubles and Gabay played a singles match later on in the day.Â
In their doubles match, Gabay and Shulman teamed up to take on Syracuse's pairing of Knutson and Shkudun. The Orange's duo proved to be too strong for the Red Foxes as they bounced Marist from doubles play winning 8-1.
Gabay went on to play a singles match in the main draw and earned victory over Temple's Titova. After dropping the first set 6-1, the freshman bounced back and won the second set 6-4. Gabay then won a hard fought third set 7-5 to advance to the main draw singles round of 64.Â
Gabay will take on Penn's Kowalska on Friday, October 20th with a chance to advance to the round of 32 that will take place also on Friday.
