AMHERST, New York -- The Marist men's cross country team overcame extremely challenging conditions to place 18^th out of 38 teams at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championshps, held Friday afternoon at Audubon Golf Course and hosted by the University at Buffalo. The men totaled 478 points, just seven points more than 2016's 16^th place finish at this meet.
 
Senior captain Dietrich Mosel had the highest finish in five years for the men, placing 45^th overall in 33:12.2 on a 10-kilometer course that was a sloppy track of frozen mud and ice on a day when wind chills were in the single digits. Junior Michael Kennedy (81^st, 33:49.3) and sophomore Alexander Hogue (93^rd, 33:57.2) posted top-100 finishes for the Red Foxes. Sophomore Christopher Rivas (111^thplace) and senior Steven Rizzo (149^th place) rounded out the scoring pack for the Red Foxes.
 
"The men competed gamely and left everything out on the course today" said Director of Track/Cross Country Pete Colaizzo. "They beat teams that were ranked ahead of them and they represented the red and white with guts and pride.''
 
Marist concludes its season at the IC4A Championships on Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park.
