Dan Wittekind of the Marist football team has been named CoSIDA Academic All-District.
Wittekind has started all 21 games in his two seasons as a Red Fox. He was Marist's starter at right guard in the 2016 season, and has successfully transitioned to center this season.
Wittekind is a Communication major. He was named to the Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll for the 2016 season.
To be eligible for a CoSIDA Academic All-District team, a student-athlete must have spent at least two prior semesters at his or her institution, have played in over 50 percent of the team's games, and have a grade-point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale. First Team Academic All-District honorees are eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-American consideration. Those honorees will be announced in December.
The Marist football team closes out its 2017 season on Saturday at San Diego. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. Eastern.
