FAIRFIELD, Connecticut – The Marist volleyball team fell 3-0 to the #1 Fairfield Stags in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference semi-finals on Saturday afternoon.

SUMMARY:
Marist started out strong, with a kill from sophomore
Stephanie Stone, and didn't relinquish that lead until the Stags muscled three straight points, giving them a 12-11 lead. Marist and Fairfield then exchanged points until back-to-back kills from sophomore
Megan Fergus and senior
Kelsey Ediger gave Marist a 20-19 lead. From there, the Stags went on a 6-2 run, closing out the first set with a victory.

Much like the first set, the second set involved multiple lead changes, and various scoring runs by both teams. Marist was within one or two points the entire match, up until four straight points, including kills by Ediger and Fergus, gave the Red Foxes a 14-11 lead. Both teams continued exchanging points, until a kill from senior
Ashton Korona led to a 3-0 run, giving Marist a 20-16 lead. But just as in the first set, the Stags finished strong, and took the set by closing with a 9-2 run.

The Red Foxes struggled to find their footing in the third set, and never were able to steal the lead at any point. The Stags opened with a 7-1 run and never looked back. The Red Foxes were able to pull within three at a few points, but that was as close as they were able to get. Fairfield was able to secure eight of the final 12 points, finishing with a kill from Luci Albertson.

- The Stags had 49 kills to Marist's 30
- Fairfield finished with a .264 hitting percentage while Marist finished at .106
- The Stags won 63 points while the Red Foxes won 39Â

- Junior Katie Brierley had a game-high 17 digs
