POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – When the Marist football team (3-5 overall, 2-3 Pioneer Football League) travels to Dayton (4-5, 3-3) for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, several Red Foxes will be returning to their home state.
In previous instances, it has brought out the best, particularly for red-shirt senior running back
Marcellus Calhoun.
A native of Columbus and two-time captain, Calhoun will be playing his final collegiate game in his home state. In his only previous appearance at Dayton, he set career highs in rushing and all-purpose yardage. Last season against the Flyers in Poughkeepsie, he set career highs for receptions and receiving yards.
Calhoun is one of seven Buckeye State products on the Marist roster. The Red Foxes have also received strong contributions this year from red-shirt sophomore
Eddie Zinn-Turner (starting nose tackle, team's fourth-leading tackler), red-shirt freshman safety
Jack Griffith (23 tackles, three-and-a-half for loss), red-shirt junior linebacker
Connor Kamczyc (27 tackles), and red-shirt freshman running back
Darryn Jordan (leads team with six special teams tackles).
