CHARLESTON, South Carolina – The Marist men's basketball team returns to action this weekend in the Papa John's Bulldog Bash, hosted by The Citadel.
Tournament Format
Marist takes on The Citadel in the tournament's opening game on Friday at 3 p.m. UMBC will then face Army West Point at 5 p.m.
On Saturday, the losers on Friday's game will play at 3 p.m., followed by the winners facing off for the tournament championship at 5 p.m.
Coverage
Audio of both of Marist's games will be available on GoRedFoxes.com, with Dean Darling and Ed Weir on the call. The pre-game show will begin 15 minutes prior to tip-off each day. Friday's game will be carried live on ESPN3.
Marist vs. the Field
Marist has never faced The Citadel or UMBC. The Red Foxes are 10-7 all-time against Army West Point, which includes a 94-73 loss earlier this season on Nov. 18. The 17 meetings are tied with Vermont for the most Marist has ever had against an opponent the Red Foxes have never shared a conference with.
If Marist faces Army West Point, it will mark the first time the Red Foxes have faced a non-conference opponent twice in the same season since 2008-09 (Delaware).
Tournament History
The last time Marist won an in-season tournament was 2006, when the Red Foxes prevailed in the Pepsi-Marist Classic. The only other time Marist won a road in-season tournament in its Division I history came in January of 1984, when the Red Foxes captured the United First Federal Classic, hosted by Florida Southern.
