BALTIMORE, Maryland -- The Marist men's and women's swimming and diving teams are back in action on Friday, Dec. 1 and Saturday, Dec. 2 at the H2Ounds Invitational hosted by Loyola University in Baltimore, MD.
The Red Foxes will compete against Loyola, Mount St. Mary's, Iona and Saint Peter's in three sessions (one on Friday and two on Saturday) in the five team meet.
LAST TIME OUT - MEN:
Marist is coming off its third win overall and second Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victory with a 165-121 win over the Fairfield Stags on Saturday, Nov. 18th. The Red Foxes opened the afternoon with a first place win in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:36.01. Marist then followed going 1-2-3 in the men's 1,000 yard freestyle with sophomore
Michael O'Donovan picking up the win and took first place finishes in the 200 yard freestyle, 100 yard breast stroke, 50 yard freestyle, 200 yard backstroke and the 200 yard breaststroke.
On the diving board, senior
Peter Gallino took first place on both the 1 meter and 3 meter and sophomore
Raislan Aiken took second in both events.
LAST TIME OUT - WOMEN:
The Red Foxes are coming off their second overall and first MAAC loss of the year, a 152.5-135.5 defeat to the Fairfield Stags on Saturday, Nov. 18th. In the pool, senior
Georgia Goldman picked up two wins in both the 100 yard backstroke and the 50 yard freestyle and added a second place finish in the 100 yard freestyle. Freshman Georgeanne Zimmerman picked up a first place finish in the 100 yard backstroke.
On the diving board, Marist went 1-2-3 in both the 1 meter and 3 meter, with freshman Esabelle Gervasio placing first in the 3 meter and junior
Lauren Katz picking up the win in the 1 meter.
MAAC STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:

Shannon Gordon was named the MAAC women's Student-Athlete of the Week the conference announced on Tuesday, Nov. 21.
Gordon is a Business Administration/Marketing major, a two year member of the MAAC All-Academic Team and has qualified for the Dean's List five times at Marist. Gordon has also been a member of the college's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for the past several years and in April 2016, attended the MAAC SAAC Conference in New York City. Gordon currently serves as President of SAAC for the 2017-18 school year.
In the pool this season, she has earned a second and third place finish in the 1,000 freestyle, a second place finish in the 400 freestyle relay and two third place finishes in the 500 freestyle.
MAAC WEEKLY AWARDS:
The Red Foxes captured three of the four MAAC swimming and diving weekly awards last week, with Goldman winning Women's Swimmer of the Week, Katz winning Women's Diver of the Week and Gallino winning Men's Diver of the Week.
Goldman picked up two wins in the Red Foxes' meet vs Fairfield on Saturday. She placed first in the 100 yard backstorke with a time of 1:00.37, placed first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 0:25.02 and placed second in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 0:54.53.
Katz won the 1 meter and finished second in the 3 meter in the Red Foxes' meet vs Fairfield on Saturday. She finished with a total score of 231.25 in the 1 meter to secure the victory and 253.30 in the 3 meter.
Gallino won both the 1 meter and 3 meter in the Red Foxes' meet vs Fairfield on Saturday. He totaled a score of 328.40 on the 1 meter and 314.65 on the 3 meter.
SCOUTING LOYOLA:
On the men's side, the Greyhounds stand at 5-3 overall and are coming off a 121-74 win over Howard on Saturday, Nov. 18th.
The women's team sits at 6-2 overall and are coming off a 124-99 win over Howard on Saturday, Nov. 18th.
SCOUTING IONA:
The Gaels' men's team is currently 5-1 (0-0 MAAC) and are coming off a 136-87 win at Providence on Saturday, Nov. 11.
On the women's side, Iona is 2-3 overall and are coming off a 139.5-101.5 loss at Providence on Saturday, Nov. 11.
SCOUTING SAINT PETER'S:
The Peacock men sit at 4-2 and are coming off a 206-135 loss at New Jersey Institute of Technology and a 238-95 loss vs Bryant on Saturday, Nov. 4.
The women are 1-3 and are coming off a 103-82 win at Stony Brook on Saturday, Nov. 18th.
SCOUTING MOUNT ST. MARY'S:
The men are 3-4 on the year and are coming off a 3rd place finish at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational on Friday, Nov. 17 through Sunday Nov. 19.
The women are 5-0 overall and are coming off a 3rd place finish at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational on Friday, Nov. 17 through Sunday Nov. 19.
