POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – After a week off for final exams, the Marist men's basketball team (2-8) returns to action on Saturday, when the Red Foxes travel to Murray State (6-2). Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. Eastern.
In the Red Foxes' last outing, they were defeated by Stetson, 79-76, on Saturday, Dec. 9. Junior guard
Brian Parker scored his 1,000th career point, and had a game-high 24 points. Parker became the 31
st player in program history to score his 1,000
th career point in a Marist uniform. He currently has 1,021 career points, a total which ranks 26
th in program history.
Parker has led Marist in scoring six times this season, including each of the last three games. He currently leads the Red Foxes in scoring (17.3 ppg), rebounding (5.2 rpg) and assists (2.7 apg).
Sjoberg Shines
Sophomore center
Tobias Sjoberg had his first career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds against Stetson. In his last two games, Sjoberg is averaging 12.0 points and 10.0 rebounds while shooting .769 (10-for-13) from the field.
About Murray State
This is the first meeting between Marist and Murray State. Of the 12 schools currently in the Ohio Valley Conference, the only other one Marist has ever faced is Belmont (once, in 2010). ... Murray State is 6-2 overall. The Racers have four players averaging in double figures in scoring, led by Terrell Miller Jr. at 16.1 points per game. Miller is also the team's leading rebounder (7.5 rpg), and shoots .553 from the field, .412 from three-point range, and .913 from the free-throw line. … Head coach Matt McMahon is in his third season at the helm.
