POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's basketball team earned a 78-76 win over Colgate in a non-conference game at McCann Arena on Wednesday night.
 
The Red Foxes led by as much as 19 in the second half before Colgate took the lead in the final minutes, but Marist re-claimed the lead for good on a three-pointer by junior forward Isaiah Lamb with 49 seconds to go.
 
Marist led 78-76 with 0.6 seconds left with an inbounds pass underneath its own basket. Colgate's Sean O'Brien stole the ball near half-court, and then drained a shot at the buzzer that was initially called good on the floor, which would have given Colgate a 79-78 win. After a review of approximately five minutes, the shot was waved off, and Marist prevailed.
 
Summary

• There were four lead changes in the first five-and-a-half minutes of the contest.
• A three-pointer by junior forward Ryan Funk at the 7:52 mark of the first half gave the Red Foxes a 27-20 advantage, their largest of the game to that point.
• However, Colgate answered with a 10-2 run over the next 2:41 to take a 30-29 lead.

• Lamb's three from the left corner gave Marist a 74-72 lead with 49 second to go. He then hit a pair of three throws in the final 10 seconds to give the Red Foxes a four-point lead.

• This was the first game this season Marist led at halftime, and the 46 points was the Red Foxes' highest output in a first half this season.

We sure did make it interesting at the end, but I'm proud of my guys because it's been a lot of uphill sledding for us and we played beautiful basketball for 30 minutes. We haven't learned how to play with a lead; we hadn't had many like this."
