HAMDEN, Connecticut – The Marist women's basketball team lost had its three game winning streak snapped Thursday evening as the Red Foxes fell to Quinnipiac, 79-57, in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action. With the loss the Red Foxes move to 11-13 overall and 8-6 in MAAC play. Quinnipiac improves to 19-6 overall and 12-3 in conference.

Claire Oberdorf led the Red Foxes in scoring, posting 16 points and five assists. Rebekah Hand would be the Red Foxes second scorer in double-digits with 13 points and five rebounds and Lovisa Henningsdottir would score 11 points for the Red Foxes.

Quinnipiac jumped out to a 9-3 lead early in the first behind three triples but Marist would claw back and tie it up 9-9. The first quarter ended with the Red Foxes trailing 17-14 and Henningsdottir and Rebekah Hand tied with the team lead in points with six each.

The Red Foxes would tie it at 26-26 all with 4:41 to go in the half before a 10-0 run for the Bobcats would stretch out the lead again. A three from Rebekah Hand with less than a minute to go would cut the Marist deficit to seven, 36-29, at the half.

The Bobcats started the second half on a 9-0 run to push the lead to 45-29. A three from the wing by Hannah Hand would pull Marist to within 13 but a bucket the next time down by the Bobcats push it back to 15.

Quinnipiac would keep the pressure on and exit the third quarter leading Marist 60-39 after outscoring the Red Foxes 24-10 in the quarter.

The Red Foxes have a quick turnaround as they head back to McCann for their first home game in February when they host Niagara in the team's annual "Pink Out" game. Tip-off for Sunday's contest is scheduled for 2 p.m.
