PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island - The Marist women's tennis team picked up a tight 4-3 win over the Providence Friars Friday evening in a non-conference dual-match. With the win the Red Foxes move to 2-0 on the young season.

Doubles proved to be the difference as the Friars and Red Foxes split the six singles matches as Providence won from spots no.1 through no.3 and Marist taking it in the no.4, no.5, and no. 6 positions.

In doubles play Claire Schmitz and Callie Morlock teamed up to defeat Providence's Amanda and Natalie Pitocco, 7-5. Elizabeth Brozovich and Ariel Shulman then took care of business to secure the doubles point by beating Katherine DeNucci and Katie Marvin, 6-2.

In singles play, Morlock picked up a second win of the day against DeNucci, 6-0, 6-3. Sophia Moeller defeated Providence's Marvin, 0-6, 6-3, 7-5 and Brozovich won her second match by defeating Natalie Pitocco in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.

Next up the Red Foxes will travel to Pennsylvania for a weekend of matches against Bucknell (Fri. Feb 24) and Lafayette (Sat. Feb. 25).
