FAIRFIELD, Connecticut - The Marist women's basketball team picked up a 68-62 road win over the Fairfield Stags, Thursday evening at Alumni Hall in Fairfield, Connecticut. With the Win the Red Foxes move to 12-15 overall and improve to 9-8 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play. The Stags are now 14-12 overall and 11-6 in conference play.

Maura Fitzpatrick led the Red Foxes with a game-high 22 points on 9-for-13 shooting from the field. Claire Oberdorf added 17 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Lovisa Henningsdottir scored 13 points to go along with eight rebounds and Rebekah Hand scored 14 points along with seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals.

After trailing 16-11 at the end of the first quarter, the Red Foxes got hot from the field and on defense. Led by 11 points from Fitzpatrick, Marist outscored Fairfield 23-10 in the second and took a 34-26 lead into the locker room.

For the half, the Red Foxes shot 12-for-25 from the field and hit 7-of-their-14 attempts from three while holding Fairfield to 10-for-30 shooting from the floor.

In a back and forth third quarter, a rainbow three in the final minute from Henningsdottir extended the Red Foxes lead back to seven, 48-41. Fitzpatrick scored seven more that quarter including another deep ball to push her game total to 18.

Again the teams traded shots in the fourth quarter with the Red Foxes coming up with timely baskets. Fairfield would climb to within five on three separate occasions with just under a minute to go but clutch free throw shooting and some defensive stops would allow the Red Foxes to hold on for the win.

The Red Foxes will return home when they host MAAC rival Monmouth on Saturday, February 18that McCann Arena. The Red Foxes will attempt to "Pack the House" for the eighth time in program history. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
