POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Marist College Men's and Women's Rowing teams will be competing for the first time this spring at the Knecht Cup Regatta at Mercer County Park, NJ.
Over 50 rowing teams from around the country will be in attendance at the 2 day event making it one of the larger regattas that the teams attend each year. Racing over a standard 2 kilometer race course, both teams will be racing talented teams from around the north east over Saturday and Sunday.
The men have entered boats into the varsity 8, 2nd varsity 8, varsity 4, and freshman 4 events.
The women have entered boats into the varsity 8, 2nd varsity 8, varsity 4, 2nd varsity 4, freshman 8, and women's single events.
"The men's and women's teams are eagerly anticipating strong competition this weekend. Early spring races such as this regatta will give our teams the opportunity to test their early season speed against other strong rowing programs including several conference rivals,” said director of rowing Tom Sanford. “Both teams have made important improvements in fitness and technique over the winter training period and are excited to start the spring racing season"
