Women's Basketball Returns Home To Face Rider

Red Foxes Host Broncs For Hudson Valley Fresh Milk & Cookies Day

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist Women's Basketball team and the Rider Broncs will face off for the second time this season Sunday afternoon at McCann Arena in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action. The Red Foxes are looking to bounce back from a tough road loss at Siena on Thursday that pushed their season record to 8-10 overall and 4-2 in conference. Marist will also be hosting its annual Hudson Valley Fresh Milk and Cookies Day along with Sunday's game. Tickets are still available on MaristTickets.com.

PREVIOUS OUTING
Siena's pressure would give the Red Foxes problems all first half, forcing the Red Foxes into 10 turnovers. The Saints would hold leads of 18-14 after the first quarter and 27-25 at the half. The Red Foxes would chip away at the lead all second half and even cut it to two with little over a minute remaining but the damage was done in the third quarter when the Saints pulled ahead with a 14-8 period. Overall, the Red Foxes would finish the game shooting just 21-for-60 from the field to go along with 21 turnovers and just seven trips to free-throw line to Siena's 31 foul shots, falling to the Saints 58-53.

LAST GAME VS RIDER
The Marist women's basketball team jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter and kept Rider at a distance for the remainder, picking up an 80-69 victory and its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference win of the season Thursday night at the Alumni Gymnasium. A 10-0 start for the Red Foxes turned into a 29-8 lead after the first quarter and although Rider would fight back, the damage was done in the first 10 minutes for Marist. Rebekah Hand led the Red Foxes with a season-high 29 points to go along with 10 rebounds and was one of four players in double-figures.

RIDER HISTORY
The Red Foxes hold a 42-16 advantage over Rider in the all-time series against the Broncs. The Red Foxes last win broke a two-game losing streak against the Broncs after getting swept in the season series last year. Last season's wins for the Broncs snapped a 27 game losing streak against Marist. The Broncs' picked up a 69-56 win in the first meeting and a 65-46 win in the second contest. The two wins against Marist were part of a historic season for Rider in which the team finished 24-9 overall and made a trip to the MAAC Championship game as well as a berth in the WNIT.

BRONCS' TALES
Rider won its last contest at home, defeating Niagara 65-58 to improve to 7-11 overall and 4-3 in the conference. Lexi Posset led the way for Rider, scoring 24 points on 11-for-12 shooting from the free throw line. Kamia Hoskova is one of two scorers in double figures for the Broncs as she is second on the team in scoring with a 14.1 PPG pace. After an outstanding freshman campaign, Stella Johnson continues to lead for Rider. Johnson averages 14.8 points per game and is the team's best shooter from the perimeter at .385 (20-for-52).

UP NEXT
Marist will start a stretch of three games on the road in one week when they travel to Jersey City, New Jersey to take on Saint Peter's on Tuesday, January 23rd. The game against the Peacocks is a make up game for the previously postponed game earlier this month. After taking on Saint Peter's, the Red Foxes will embark on their annual Buffalo trip and take on Niagara (Jan. 26) and Canisius (Jan. 28).
