Men's Soccer Hosts Niagara in Regular Season Finale

Red Foxes to Play at 4 p.m. on Halloween

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York -  Men's Soccer will close out the regular season with a home game on Halloween against Niagara University. Though originally scheduled for 2 p.m., the game was moved to kick off at 4 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Red Foxes lost to Quinnipiac 1-0 to fall to 5-2-2 in the MAAC and 6-5-4 overall.
  • Marist had 17 shots, but Quinnipiac's Jared Mazzola made nine saves to keep the Red Foxes scoreless.
  • Allen Gavilanes led the team with five shots and two on goal. Christian Curti also shot three times with two on target.
  • Keeper Ryan Sinnott made four saves on the night, with the Bobcats firing off 13 shots.
SCOUTING NIAGARA
  • Niagara University is also coming into Wednesday following a 1-0 loss to Iona College.
  • Luca Pacheco leads the team with four goals and three assists, while Mbongeni Tshuma has contributed four goals and an assist as well.
  • Steve Casey has seen the most time in goal, making 59 saves for a .686 save percentage.
  • With the loss, Niagara University falls to 1-8 in MAAC play and a overall record of 3-14.
PLAYOFF SCENARIOS
  • With a win, Marist will clinch the third seed in the MAAC playoffs.
  • With a tie, the Red Foxes can finish as high as fourth, or miss the playoffs entirely based on the results of other teams.
  • With a loss, Marist can still finish fourth, but it would require Manhattan, Rider and Saint Peter's to all lose their games.
  • The only way for Marist to miss out on the playoffs completely is for all three of those teams to win their games, and for Marist to tie or lose to Niagara.
UP NEXT
If the Red Foxes qualify, they will play in the MAAC Quarterfinals on Sunday, November 4. The matchups will be determined by final seeds based on MAAC standings.
