BELFAST, Northern Ireland – The Marist men's basketball team defeated Dartmouth by a score of 76-58 in the Samson Bracket semifinal in the Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic on Thursday.
- Dartmouth opened the game 6-for-8 from the field, and jumped out to a 14-6 lead.
- The Red Foxes responded with an 18-0 lead. The run included three-pointers on four consecutive possessions, with three coming from senior forward Ryan Funk, and one from senior forward Isaiah Lamb.
- Marist led by as much as 15 in the first 20 minutes, and had a 41-31 advantage at halftime.
- The Red Foxes started the second half on a 7-0 run, and the team's lead ballooned to 20 on two occasions.
- Marist scored just nine points over a span of 13:17, which enabled Dartmouth to cut its deficit to seven with three minutes remaining.
- Marist closed out the game by holding Dartmouth scoreless over the final 4:27. The Red Foxes closed out the game by scoring the game's final 11 points.
- Senior guard Brian Parker led all scorers with 18 and had the game's highest assist total with six. Parker shot 7-for-9 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free-throw line.
- Red-shirt junior forward Aleksandar Dozic had game highs in rebounds (eight) and blocked shots (three).
- Funk (14 points, 4-for-6 three-point shooting) and freshman point guard Darius Hines (10 points) gave the Red Foxes three double-digit scorers.
- Marist shot .529 (27-for-51) from the field, .444 (8-for-18) from three-point range, and .933 (14-for-15) from the free-throw line.
- Chris Knight paced Dartmouth with 16 points and seven rebounds.
- The Big Green shot .375 (9-for-24) from three-point range, but just .273 (3-for-11) in the second half.
- Funk's first made three-pointer was the 200th of his career. He became the sixth player in program history to reach this milestone, joining Will Whittington (362), Danny Basile (239), Steve Paterno (224), Khallid Hart (215), and Andy Lake (211).
- Dozic set a career high in blocked shots.
- Parker set a season high in assists.
- Junior center Tobias Sjoberg had a season-high eight points.
- Marist is now 5-2 against Dartmouth all-time, with four straight wins.
- Marist is now 2-4 on the season.
- Dartmouth is 3-4.
Marist will play in the championship game of the Samson Bracket on Friday at 7:30 p.m. local time/2:30 p.m. Eastern. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network, and will be against LIU. The Blackbirds defeated UAlbany, 80-77, in the game following Marist-Dartmouth.
