POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The men's lacrosse team showed resilience and held off a Binghamton comeback to take a 8-7 victory.

Joe Tierney got the Red Foxes off on the right foot, firing home the first goal off of a
Gannon Morrison assist. Binghamton responded quickly, scoring twice in two minutes to take a 2-1 lead. The game was all knotted up at 2-2 after a
Gannon Morrison rocket into the top left corner. Binghamton took advantage of a
Peter Conlan penalty to take a 3-2 lead with 8.56 remaining in the 1st half.
Mitchell Standera and Marist equalized after Binghamton defender Brian Stemke's foul put the Bearcats a man down. The Red Foxes went into the second half tied 3-3.
With 7:36 left in the 3rd, Tierney sliced through Binghamton's defense and put Marist up 4-3 with his second goal of the day. Tierney also set up
Michael Smith's goal 27 seconds later to make it 5-3. The Bearcats would not go away as Thomas McAndrew beat goalie
Brian Corrigan to make it 5-4.
Jason Intermesoli added to Marist's tally and the Red Foxes led 6-5 going into the last quarter..
The Red Foxes took a 7-5 lead with 10:29 remaining on Morrison's second goal of the afternoon. Intermesoli scored with 3:09 left to give Marist a 8-5 lead. But the Bearcats would not go away as they scored two goals in 18 seconds to make it a one goal game with 2:12 to play. Marist won the faceoff and took a timeout with 46 seconds left to ready their defense for a Bearcat attack. Marist held strong and forced the Bearcats to take a couple of wide shots to end the game.
