WAPPINGERS FALLS, New York - The Marist women's tennis team picked up its third consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference win as the Red Foxes downed the Monmouth Hawks, 7-0, Saturday evening at the Cross Court Tennis Club. The win improves te Red Foxes to 6-6 in dual matches and 3-0 in league play.
The Red Foxes made quick work of the first point as they clinched doubles with wins at the first and third positions.
Sophia Moeller and
Chloe Lant battled at the second position and emerged victorious in a tiebreak to secure wins in all three doubles matches.
Claire Schmitz would win the first singles match for Marist with a 6-2, 6-0 win at the third position.
Julia Gabay would keep it rolling with a 6-4, 6-0 straight set victory of her own, and
Sophia Chavarria clinched the match for the Red Foxes with a 7-5, 6-1 win at the six spot.
Sophia Moeller,
Chloe Lant, and
Sam Galu would all win their matches by straight sets as well, giving Marist the 7-0 overall victory.
UP NEXT
The Red Foxes will host two straight home matches against Hofstra and Fairfield. Marist will take on Hofstra on Monday, April 2nd and conference-foe Fairfield on Thursday, April 5th.
