WAPPINGERS FALLS, New York – The Marist women's tennis team dropped a non-conference match against Hofstra, 6-1, Monday afternoon at the Cross Court Tennis Club. The loss drops the Red Foxes to 6-7 overall.
Hofstra took control of the match early on by winning all three doubles matches, earning the first point. Hofstra won from the first three spots, 6-3, 7-5, 6-2.
In singles play, Hofstra took a 2-0 match lead with a win at first singles and then a 3-0 lead with a win at fourth singles. Hofstra then clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-3 win at second singles.
Claire Schmitz was able to earn the only Red Foxes' point of the day when she defeated Hofstra's Jasmine King, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Hofstra also won from the fifth and sixth position.
