RALEIGH, North Carolina – The Marist softball team dropped two games on the final day of the RDU/RTP Challenge. They fell to Kennesaw State 8-0, and Niagara 9-1.

SUMMARY OF KENNESAW STATE
Junior Kallen Leeseberg started game one for Marist. She went 4.1 innings and allowed nine hits, eight runs, and two walks, while striking out four. Junior Megan Beiermeister tossed the last 0.2 innings before the mercy rule kicked in. She allowed a hit, a walk, and struck out one. The Red Fox offense struggled, putting just four runners on base and stranding all of them. The one Red Fox hit came off the bat of senior Miranda Perez, and there were three walks, one apiece for red-shirt sophomore Claire Oberdorf, freshman Lauren Beal, and senior Brittany Colombo.

SUMMARY OF NIAGARA
Beiermeister started game two. The Niagara offense had an explosive second inning, putting up seven runs to force a pitching change. Junior Brooke Peterson pitched the final 3.2 innings and allowed three hits, two runs, and two walks. The offense totaled two hits and both were pinch-hit singles by senior Kourtney Paul and Colombo. Freshman Hunter Hand scored the lone Marist run. Â

RECORDS
Marist is now 10-18 overall. Kennesaw State is now 21-11, and 2-1 in conference. Niagara is now 6-17 overall.
UP NEXT
Marist will have its home opener on Wednesday, April 4th with a double header vs Army. The first game is scheduled for 2 PM, and the second game for 4 PM.
