POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist women's tennis team will host Niagara University in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action. It will be senior day for the Red Foxes who are honoring seniors
Elizabeth Brozovich and
Claire Schmitz before the match begins. Ceremonies will commence at 1:45 p.m. with the match beginning at 2:00 p.m.
The Red Foxes will also travel to take on the Quinnipiac Bobcats on Sunday, April 15
th at 6:30 p.m. at the North Haven Health & Racquet Club.
CONFERENCE PLAY
The Red Foxes are currently 3-0 in conference matches. They beat Rider on October 17
th, Saint Peter's on February 9
th, and Monmouth on March 24
th all three opponents lost by a score of 7-0. The Red Foxes are 6-7 overall.
LAST MATCH
The Marist women's tennis team was home last Monday where they dropped a non-conference match against Hofstra, 6-1. Hofstra took control of the match early on by winning all three doubles matches, earning the first point. In singles play, Hofstra took a 2-0 match lead with a win at first singles and then a 3-0 lead with a win at fourth singles.
Claire Schmitz was able to earn the only Red Foxes' point of the day when she defeated Hofstra's Jasmine King, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.
SCOUTING NIAGARA
Niagara is sitting at 7-16 overall and 2-2 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference this season. The Purple Eagles have won their last 3 straight games and picked up two conference victories in a row. Their last match was against Fairfield where they beat the Stags 6-1. Andreea Peteu leads the team with 12 singles wins with eight coming in second singles.
SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC
The Bobcats are currently 10-6 overall and a perfect 4-0 in MAAC play. Quinnipiac is coming off a 5-2 win over Providence and a 6-1 win over fellow conference foe Monmouth. The Bobcats will take on Siena on the road on Friday.
