POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist Women's tennis team will open against the number three-seeded Siena Saints in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship Semifinals on Saturday, April 28th. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Mercer County Park Tennis Center in West Windsor, New Jersey.
LAST MATCH VS SIENA
The Red Foxes defeated Siena on Sunday April 22nd, 5-2. The Red Foxes won matches at the first and third doubles to win the doubles point. In singles play the Red Foxes won at first, third, fifth, and sixth singles.
Julia Gabay won her second match of the day over Ivana Boberic, 6-4, 6-3. At third singles, Schmitz defeated Rina Sakai in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3.
LAST MATCH VS QUINNIPIAC
The Marist women's tennis team dropped its first MAAC match of the season to the Quinnipiac Bobcats, 7-0 on Sunday April 15th. The Bobcats took the first point after winning at all three doubles spots, 7-6, 6-1, and 6-1, taking control of the match from the onset. The Bobcats would then win at the second position, 6-2, 6-0 and the fifth position, 6-1, 6-3 to clinch the match.
LAST MATCH VS NIAGARA
The Red Foxes defeated the Niagara Purple Eagles 6-1 on April 14th. The Red Foxes started out hot and won all three doubles matches.
Julia Gabay and
Sam Galu teamed up to win 6-4,
Sophia Moeller and
Chloe Lantwon 6-4, and
Claire Schmitz and
Elizabeth Brozovich won 6-2.Â
Amy Galloway would clinch the match for the Red Foxes with a 6-0, 6-1 straight set victory at the sixth position.
UP NEXT
A win will propel the Foxes to the finals on Sunday, April 29 where they will play either Quinnipiac or Niagara. A loss will end the Red Foxes' season.
