Softball Takes Game One, Drops Game Two vs. Canisius

Milam Drives In Four As Red Foxes Prevail In First Game

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist softball team split a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference doubleheader against Canisius on Sunday. The Red Foxes defeated the Golden Griffins 7-5 in game one but lost game two 5-0.

Summary
  • The Red Foxes scored first as red-shirt sophomore Claire Oberdorf singled to drive in a run in the bottom of the first inning.
  • Later in the inning, sophomore Ali Milam blasted a two-run homer, her second in as many games, giving Marist an early 3-0 lead.
  • Freshman Caroline Baratta drove in another run in the bottom of the second with an RBI groundout, extending the Red Foxes' lead to 4-0.

  • The Golden Griffins tacked on an insurance run in the top of the sixth when Molly McGuire came in to score on a safety squeeze by Ashley Barnett.
