Women's Rowing Sweeps MAAC Awards For Fourth Time

Red Foxes 1V8, 2V8, & V4 Win Boat Of The Week Honors

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist women's rowing team has swept the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference weekly awards for the third consecutive time and fourth time this season.
The Red Foxes' Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, and Varsity Four have all been awarded with boat of the week after the team's strong performances during last weekend's dual matches at the Ithaca Invitational.

VARSITY EIGHT
In the first event of the day at the dual match, the Women's Varsity 8+ competed against Colgate. The women got off the line quickly and established an early lead to beat the Raiders by 6 seconds in a time of 6:52.01. The 1V then had an opportunity to race a very fast crew from Ithaca who had won their race against Hamilton in a time of 6:38 earlier in the day. Getting off the line cleanly, the 1V maintained contact with Ithaca the entire race but came up 4.1 seconds short in a great race against a strong crew. The Marist Crew completed the course in 6:37.5 behind Ithaca's time of 6:33.4.

This crew was composed of Isabelle Koch, Selena Mildon, Clodagh Deasy, Sydney Ford, Marie Ryden, Caroline Withers, Abbey Gragg, Elisabeth Kamm, and Kelsi Cottrell.

SECOND VARSITY EIGHT
The next race for the women was the 2V in a dual against Colgate. A strong race for the crew gave them the lead from start and they were able to expand their lead throughout the 2000m race. They finished 20 seconds ahead of Colgate in a time of 7:15.9. The 2V raced Ithaca, the winner of a close morning heat with Hamilton. The Marist women got off the line a little behind Ithaca but were able to fight back and take the lead to win the race by 3.4 seconds in a time of 7:03.1.

This crew was composed of Caitlin Green, Bernadette Winby, Kerriann Ernenwein, Shawna Gilson, Maddy Gragg, Kate Beebe, Elizabeth Colby, Caroline Defrancesco, and Eliza Hartford.

VARSITY FOUR
The Marist Women's 2nd Varsity 4+ composed of  Emma Trammell, Morgan Zuch, Sara Barker, Ali Mattoch, and Jasmine Miller had another strong finish at this past weekend in Ithaca.  The V4 took advantage of their single race of the day. Going head-to-head with Colgate, Marist took a commanding lead and finished 31 seconds ahead of their competition in a time of 7:55.16.

UP NEXT
The next racing opportunity for the Red Fox women is at the MAAC Championships on May 13th in Camden, NJ.
