POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – A goal in each half propelled the Marist women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Rhode Island Sunday afternoon at Tenney Stadium. The win improves the team's record to 2-1-1 on the season, Rhode Island is now 0-4.
- Marist's first scoring chance came at the 12 minute mark. Junior Alexa Svensson took a corner and placed near the goal. Sophomore Nicole Sasso attempted a diving header that went just wide.
- Marist took a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute. Junior Keri Bradley saved a ball from going out of bounds and crossed it to redshirt freshman Kristen Prevosto, who rifled it past the goalie. This was the first goal of Prevosto's collegiate career. The Red Foxes would go into the half leading 1-0.
- The Red Foxes had a scoring opportunity at the 50 minute mark. Kristen Prevosto put a good ball in front of Anna Davies, who turned it towards goal before being saved by the Rams' goalie.
- The Rams got on the scoreboard in the 54th minute. Madison Waldron took advantage of a one-on-one on a failed offside trap. Credit Rebecca D'Anna with the assist.
- The Foxes took a 2-1 lead just three minutes later. Keri Bradley dribbled the ball up the right side. Her pass attempt to Anna Davies was deflected by the goalie, but senior Kristen Reilly was flying by the left post and tapped it in for the score to give the Red Foxes the lead for good.
- Marist would fire 17 shots towards net, eight on goal. Nicole Sasso led the way in shot attempts with three.
- Abby Renaud picked up her first career win in net in her second start. Renaud faced eight shots.
The Red Foxes will travel to New Haven, CT to take on Yale University on Sunday, September 9th. Kickoff is set for 1 P.M.
