JERSEY CITY, New Jersey – The men's soccer squad will face Saint Peter's on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Jersey City. This is the program's first MAAC opponent for the season, and the top six teams based on MAAC wins at the end of the season will go to the conference tournament.
The Red Foxes tied with the Penn Quakers on Friday night, moving to 1-3-2 for the season. They were dominant on offense, tallying 21 shots to Penn's seven. Unfortunately, none of them were able to find the net and the match ended in a draw.
Samad Bounthong, Ernest Mitchell, Cameron Harr and Alexandre Reis had three shots each, and all had close looks. Ryan Sinnott was strong in the goal, with five saves in 110 minutes to keep Penn off the board.
Saint Peter's is 3-4-1 for the year, earning victories over CCSU, Sacred Heart and St. Francis Brooklyn. In their last game, they blew away St. Francis Brooklyn 4-1 by scoring three goals in the second half. Frederik Lindqvist tallied two goals and an assist to earn MAAC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Freshman keeper Jason Dubrovich has made four straight starts for the Peacocks in goal, with a record of 2-1-1.
Live statistics and video will be provided by Saint Peter's, but you can follow along with play-by-play on Twitter by @MaristMensSoc.
The Red Foxes will host Rider on Saturday, September 29th at 7 p.m. for their second MAAC opponent of the season.
