POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The women's soccer team will host Canisius on Wednesday at 4 p.m. for their second match of MAAC competition. Following the win over Iona, the Red Foxes are looking to move to 2-0 in conference play. This is a "Play for Pride" game, where the women will be wearing rainbow shoelaces in support of coaches and athletes of all sexual orientations.
In a competitive match with the Gaels, Keri Bradley was able to fire the ball into the upper 90 of the net in the 86th minute to put away any chances of overtime. Kristen Reilly had scored off of a header from Bradley in the 25th minute, but Iona answered back before the end of the half to tie the game.
Bradley and Reilly both scored their third goals of the season to give Marist their second consecutive MAAC opener victory. Francesca Guzzo and Abigail Renaud split time in the net, while a strong Red Fox defense allowed only one shot in the second half.
The Golden Griffins are 4-3-1 this season, with their last win coming over conference opponent Manhattan on Saturday. Madeline Beaulieu leads the team with four goals, while Paige Buscaglia has two goals and an assist. Alana Rossi has guarded the net for all eight games, making 22 saves with three shutouts.
