POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The first home game of them 2018 men's soccer season will welcome Rhode Island, a team that has not allowed a goal in their first four games. The Red Foxes seek to keep their momentum rolling following a victory over No. 17 Pacific, their best win versus a ranked opponent since the 2000 season.
Pacific started the game strong, outshooting Marist in the first half and tallying three more corner kicks. But when the Red Foxes struck, they drew blood. Marcus Ginman scored his first career goal in the 36th minute, taking a lead that would not be given back. Marist's defense was stalwart through the remainder of the game, allowing only two shots in the second half. Ryan Sinnott made three saves in his first start of the season, earning the first win this season for the Red Foxes.
Rhode Island has not allowed a goal this season, shutting out four-straight teams. Dominik Richter has been a major contributor on offense, tallying four assists as well as a goal. Seven total players have scored a goal this season to record wins over Boston, Bryant, Penn State and Holy Cross. The Rams have featured two keepers in the net, and both have remained clean so far.
Saturday's contest will be streamed live on the Red Fox Network, and you can also follow along on the Marist Men's Soccer twitter account (@MaristMensSoc) for live in-game updates. Live stats will be available on goredfoxes.com.
