Women's Basketball Handles the Hawks

Red Foxes Hold Monmouth to Consecutive Nine-Point Quarters

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Marist women's basketball (12-5, 4-1 MAAC) defeated Monmouth (5-10, 1-3 MAAC) on Tuesday evening by a final score of 69-45. The Hawks put up a good fight through the first quarter, but the Red Foxes went on a 31-6 run stretching into the third quarter to eventually build a season-high 32 point lead and take the win in McCann Arena
 
SUMMARY
  • The Red Foxes set the tone early by getting multiple and-1s in the first quarter to earn an early lead of 19-13 at the first break.
  • Monmouth went on a small run to tie the score at 21 early in the second, but would only score one more point in the rest of the quarter.
  • Marist forced the Hawks to miss 12 straight field goals in the second while the Red Foxes surged ahead to a 36-22 lead at the half.
  • The Hawks continued to go without a made field goal stretching midway into the third, scoring only nine points for the second consecutive quarter.
