The Red Fox Network presents a friendly competition between two of the team's safeties – fifth-year senior
Andrew McElroy and red-shirt junior safety
Jack Griffith in "Red Fox Faceoff."
Â
For the past three seasons, McElroy and Griffith have essentially shared a safety position. They have established themselves as leaders both on and off the field. On the field, McElroy has been a three-year starter and special teams standout who has 26 tackles and three-and-a-half stops for loss this year. Griffith hasn't missed a game the last three years, and has 16 tackles, two-and-a-half stops for loss, and a sack this year.
Â
McElroy is a national semifinalist for the prestigious Campbell Trophy, a four-time Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll selection, and a two-year Second Team PFL All-Academic choice. Griffith is a three-year PFL Academic Honor Roll selection, and a Second Team PFL All-Academic selection last season. Both have also been Dean's List honorees.
