POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist volleyball's senior outside hitter Megan Fergus and freshman libero Sophia Theriot received Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference weekly awards for the second straight week. This is the third time the pair has won awards in the same week this season. For their performances the week of October 22, Fergus was named MAAC Player of the Week, while Theriot garnered MAAC Libero of the Week honors. In addition to winning the same awards last week, the pair also won the same awards back on September 30.  

Both players had a fantastic week, helping to lift the Red Foxes to a 2-0 weekend. They led Marist to a 3-1 victory over the Iona Gaels on the road on Saturday, October 19. The duo also lifted the Red Foxes to a four-set victory over the Manhattan Jaspers on the road on Sunday, October 20 after a quick turnaround. They helped improve Marist's conference record to 7-3 on the year, and the team now sits alone in second place in the conference.  

Fergus had another stellar week leading the Red Foxes' attack, and helping lead Marist to a 2-0 weekend. She started it by posting a 21 kill, 14 dig double-double on Saturday against Iona, and poured in a career-high four service aces to go with two total blocks. Then on Sunday, she smacked a career-high 24 kills, and tallied nine digs, falling just one dig short of another double-double. She had 45 kills in total for the week, 5.62 kills per set and 22.5 kills per match. She hit .333 for the week, and had 23 total digs, five total blocks, and four service aces on a .839 serve percentage.

Theriot, the reigning libero of the week, had another great week helping to anchor Marist defense in what was an undefeated weekend. She combined for 40 total digs, and had a .955 reception percentage on the weekend. She averaged 5.0 digs per set, and 20 digs per match. She also added 10 assists to help facilitate the offense.

The Red Foxes have the week off, but will return to action on Saturday, October 26 against the Rider Broncs. The following day, Sunday, October 27, Marist will take on the Saint Peter's Peacocks. Botch matches are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. here in McCann Arena.
