Football Travels To San Diego

Red Foxes, Toreros To Kick Off At 5 p.m. Eastern Saturday

SAN DIEGO, California – The Marist football team (1-3 overall, 1-1 Pioneer Football League) has made the journey to the Pacific coast, and will take on San Diego (1-2, 0-0) in a PFL contest on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. Eastern time.

  • The Red Foxes rank 15th in the FCS in Red Zone Defense. The opposition has come away scoreless on six of its 18 trips inside the Marist 20 this season.
  • Marist is 42-40 all-time in PFL play, and is now in its 11th season in the league. October has been the Red Foxes' best month in PFL play (24-14).
  • Marist has 10 plays from scrimmage of at least 30 yards in its last three games (seven pass, three rush).
  • In his last nine games, fifth-year senior wide receiver Anthony Olivencia has 51 receptions for 907 yards and five touchdowns. In last year's contest against San Diego, Olivencia tied the program's single-game record with 12 receptions, and had a career-high 224 receiving yards.

  • This is the Toreros' PFL opener. In its last outing, San Diego defeated Harvard 31-23 on Sept. 21.
  • The Toreros have won 29 straight games against PFL foes, the longest active league streak in the FCS.
  • The Toreros have 35 straight home games against PFL competition, a streak that dates back to 2010.
  • San Diego has been the PFL's representative in the FCS playoffs each of the last three years.
  • Quarterback Reid Sinnett ranks in the top five of the FCS in passing yards per game, completion percentage, and passing efficiency.
