Marist Generates 14 Shots, But Late Goal Makes Difference

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Though Marist registered 14 shots, Rider's Hailey Russell headed in a goal in the 84th minute to give Rider the 1-0 victory on Saturday evening at Tenney Stadium.

The Red Foxes drop to 1-2-1 in MAAC play and 4-7-1 overall. Rider stays undefeated at 3-0-1 in conference while improving to 6-2-3 in 2019.

THE SUMMARY
  • Marist compiled seven corner kicks in the first 15:17 of the game.
  • Redshirt sophomore midfielder Kristen Prevosto dumped a shot on net from the right of the box, and it redirected off the left post in the sixth minute.
  • In the 20th minute, sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Kelchner earned her first save, collecting a header from Camryn Dees.
  • Kelchner elevated to send away an eight-yard shot from Niamh Cashin with less than four minutes until halftime.
  • As the clock ticked under 10 minutes in the second half, junior forward Jillian Colucci fed sophomore forward Victoria Colatosti. She shot the ball past the Rider netminder, but the Broncs' defense cleared the slow-roller inches before it crossed the end line.
  • Rider's goal came four minutes later, when Nikki Arrington crossed it to Russell from the right corner. Russell flicked the header past Kelchner and into the left portion of the net.
