Jack Griffith of the Marist football team were named CoSIDA Academic All-District on Thursday.
Dixon is in his second season as a captain. He leads the Red Foxes in tackles (60), tackles for loss (seven), and sacks (four) in 2019. Dixon was named Honorable Mention All-Pioneer Football League last year. He has been named Second Team PFL All-Academic each of the last years, and has been a PFL Academic Honor Roll selection each of the last three seasons.
Griffith has amassed 32 tackles, three-and-a-half stops for loss, and two sacks this season. He was named Second Team PFL All-Academic in 2018, and has been named to the PFL Academic Honor Roll each of the past three years.
This is the first academic all-district selection for both Dixon and Griffith. This fall, the Marist Athletics Department has amassed six all-district selections. The list also includes Jillian Colucci of women's soccer, Michael Lorello of men's soccer, Megan Fergus of volleyball, and Skylar Harrison of volleyball.
To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-District consideration, a student-athlete must be of at least sophomore standing academically and athletically while having a grade-point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale.
The Marist football team hosts Jacksonville in its home finale on Saturday, Nov. 16. Kickoff at Tenney Stadium is set for noon, and tickets are available at MaristTickets.com. Marist's Senior Day ceremony will be held prior to kickoff.
