Women's Basketball Returns Home To Face Princeton

Both Teams Rank Top 10 In Mid-Major Rankings

­POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Coming off its first loss of 2019-20 to Central Michigan, the Red Foxes look to rebound against Princeton on Saturday, December 7 at 7 p.m. Marist is also hosting its Hudson Valley Fresh Milk and Cookies Day promotion at the contest.
 
HOW TO FOLLOW
  • The game will air live on ESPN+ beginning at the top of the hour. Geoff Brault and Steve Eggink have the call.

LAST TIME OUT
  • After sweeping the MAAC/ASUN Challenge, the Red Foxes fell to the Chippewas on Saturday, November 30.
  • Sophomore Sarah Barcello led Marist with a career-high 16 points. Redshirt senior Alana Gilmer and senior Rebekah Hand each had 15 points.
  • The latter moved into sixth all-time in program history in free throws and is 14 away from fifth.
  • Rebekah Hand has also reached double-digit scoring every game this season; Gilmer has achieved the feat in five of six games.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
  • Princeton is 6-1 on the season, and is coming off of two consecutive wins. The Tigers have beaten MAAC foes Rider and Monmouth this season.
  • In the collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll, Princeton sits fourth this week.
  • The Tigers' top scorer has been Carlie Littlefield with 94 points thus far. On average, Littlefield scores 13.4 points per game.
  • Bella Alarie is the team leader in scoring average at 15.2 points a game. She was recently named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List, which spotlights the national player of the year.
  • So far, Princeton has a scoring margin of plus-17.7. The team averages 43.6 rebounds per game.
SERIES HISTORY
  • The Red Foxes and Tigers meet for the sixth time. Princeton leads the series 4-1.
  • Marist won in the 2012-13 season at McCann Arena, winning 56-45.
  • Last year against the Tigers, the Red Foxes fell short, 60-57 in New Jersey.

  • Marist occupies the tenth spot in College Insider's Mid Major Top 25 Poll this week, being ranked in the top 12 in each week so far.
  • Last week, Graham Hays of espnW had the Red Foxes eighth among mid major teams in his top 10 rankings.

MILESTONE WATCH
  • Rebekah Hand needs 19 points to tie Ursula Winter for second place on Marist's all-time scoring list.
  • She is also eight points shy of 200 career three-pointers. She would become the fifth Red Fox ever to accomplish that distinction.
CONFERENCE LEADERS
  • Marist leads the Conference in five categories: scoring margin (+8.2), field goal percentage (.453), opponent field goal percentage (.374), Assists per game (99), and assist/turnover ratio (1.14).
  • Vander Weide has the most assists in the conference with 31, averaging 5.2 assists per game.
  • Rebekah Hand is second in points per game with 19.2.
  • Gilmer sits atop the conference in field goal percentage at 52.9 percent.
NATIONAL NOTORIETY
  • Marist ranks 11th free-throw percentage at 79.2 percent.
  • The Red Foxes also rank 27th in fewest turnovers at 87, 42nd with 16.5 assists per game, and 44th with a team field goal percentage of 45.3 percent.
  • On the other side, Princeton is top 20 in the nation in blocked shots, and is 27th with a +6.7 turnover margin, 37th with a +16.6 scoring margin, and 40th with 43.6 rebounds per game.

  • Marist continues its homestand against Green Bay on Sunday, December 15 at Noon.
  • The Red Foxes wrap up non-conference play and the 2019 calendar year with a trip to UT Arlington on Thursday, December 19.
