PISCATAWAY, New Jersey – Marist women's lacrosse drops a 13-9 game to Rutgers at High Point Stadium. Rutgers improves to 2-1 while Marist falls to 0-2.

Hailey Wagner won the opening draw, immediately translating to points.
Samantha Mehalick took a great feed from
Devon Connolly to get Marist on the board. Rutgers responded with a 4-0 run with less than 15 minutes in the half.

Both teams exchanged goals throughout the rest of the second half, with Connolly scoring three in a row for Marist. Mehalick found the back of the net with seven second left in the half to cut the deficit to 8-5 at the end of the half.

Marist came into the second half on fire, with
Hailey Wagner and Mehalick scoring to make it a one point game. Rutgers responded to bring its cushion back to three points. Trailing 11-8 with 18:29 left in the game, Marist had a chance to come back. The Red Foxes could not find good looks on offense and Rutgers maintained its lead for the win.
